Personal History Christian did have a normal childhood that everyday people would consider normal. You see both of his parents were in Starfleet. Jeff grew up on the USS Odyssey, an Constellation class Starship. His father was LtCommander Patrick Matthew, Chief Security Officer on board and his mother was Lt Jessica Matthew the Chief Medical Officer.

Growing up when he was a boy, he thought would be fun. But it was nothing of the sort. He was always restricted to a few desks by his father and he was never able to see his parents while they were on duty. Instead he spent most of his time reading books in the mess hall by himself. He loved to read and sit and listen to everyone while they told there stories of away missions. But it was not until one day that the Ship's Captain came in to see what people that his perspective changed on Starfleet.

Because you see the Ship's Captain Cmdr Susan Lockheart didn't go over to were the enlisted sat but instead she came over to where Chris was and sat down. He was 15 years old at the time and they spent almost 30 minutes talking. Chris left that day with a new respect for her and he saw that she was wise indeed. It was almost because of her influence that he wanted to be a Officer where all of the crew like and respected him.

Well for the next two years that he was aboard the Captain assigned him a tutor to help him get ready for the academy. This was probably when Christian and his parents started to drift apart. He never told them first he wanted in to Starfleet. He told the Captain. Well anyway the time came for him to leave and go to Earth. Luck would have it that he past the entrance exam on the first time.

It wasn't until his second year at the academy that he found his true to become a Doctor like his mother. This is also the time when he began speak to his mother who was stationed over at Starfleet Medical. She would help him out with questions and send him medical books to study. She was his best resource while he was at the Academy and probably the only reason he graduated to become a Doctor.
