Welcome to the USS Iapetus, home of one of the finest crews Starfleet has to offer! The Iapetus is a Luna-class vessel, placed into production after the Dominion War to expand Starfleet's gaze once more out to scientific exploration, and one of the most well-known ships of the class is none other than the USS Titan, commanded by Captain William Riker.
We onboard the Iapetus value creativity, activity and friendship. Our missions, while begun and ended by the Commanding Officer, are very much shaped by the crew, who introduce a plethora of new plot turns and innovative sub-stories. We ask that your activity onboard the sim is no less than 1 post every two weeks (LOAs permitting). We also have a community forum, for all members of the Iapetus to come together and discuss anything from the latest plot development to what colour the sky was the day James T Kirk was born!
The USS Iapetus is a 16+ rated Role Play. We ask that any writers wishing to join the ship be 16 years of age or older.
The USS Iapetus is ordered on a six month exploration cruise, out past the range of any previous Federation exploration to date. But when they discover a burgeoning, just-warp-capable society in need, they make some rather disturbing discoveries.

Right guys, I don't plan to keep us at the station for too long OOC - though IC as already stated we're there for 2 weeks - but I would like everyone to try to get at least one post out; either enjoying the brief respite, or getting things ready for our long journey, but I plan by early next week to have moved off and be on out way with the rest of the mission.
We'll briefly touch on our journey out there, but then we'll be pretty rapidly into the core of the mission itself, so I'd like everyone to be as active as they can be, please.
Now, you'll notice a couple of changes on the manifest if you take a look. First off, Valkris Edwardson is no longer there; the player behind her and I have been talking, and the character has been replaced with Chief Warrant Officer Th'raas, a Tactical Officer, in addition to an Antagonist NPC which we'll be making use of in the coming missions.

As there was a whopping 200 requests to join the forum (with at least 75 of them being from spam bots that I saw before deleting them), I went through and rejected all applications to join the forum. If, I inadvertently rejected an actual someone trying to get on the forums, send me a PM and I will get it straightened out right away.
» Upgrade - Complete!

OK guys, the Nova upgrade is complete - head on over to the usual place, and you'll be greeted with the slightly updated look.
One thing to note for logging in; you now need to use your email address instead of your username. You can also now have NPCs you own linked to your account so you can post through them - those of you with NPCs on the manifest with your name already next to theirs will have these linked to your accounts already, thanks to me :)
I'll be emailing you all the default password after this. You'll need to log in ASAP - it'll then prompt you to change the password, which you should do.
Now, there are still a few little kinks in the site - namely in the skinning department on some pages with long content, but I'll be sorting that out soon.
In the meantime, enjoy and carry on simming!

OK... so it's only just 'tomorrow' in the part of the world I live in, but I found myself in the unusual situation of being both awake enough and in possession of enough time to be able to do the upgrade tonight. Since I know from previously we don't often get many of you editing JPs on here at what is my midnight, there shouldn't be too much of a problem :D
The site will be down for about an hour or so whilst I get everything sorted, maybe a little less. You'll get more correspondence from me as the upgrade comes to fruition.

Right, well since we've not had any objections over the week in regards to the upgrade to Nova, I'll get that processed tomorrow. I'll post before I start, and after I'm done, so between those times, don't do any edits to posts or whatever on the SMS site, since it won't get saved onto the new site.
Once the new one is in place, I'll be archiving the old SMS files on my hard drive, and removing them from the server, to try and streamline the space we use on the server. A few things might get changed around as well (such as our IRC chat applet, which I may exchange for something simpler to administer, and I'm also considering (yet another) forum change, since smf has given me more of a headache with spam accounts than the old one ever did), but I'll post the full details after the upgrade tomorrow.
